Rustic Christmas Tree Ornament

Just one more week until the big day is here!  Are you ready?

Today I have a fun tutorial to share that uses products from two of my favorite companies - Kuretake (who makes the wonderful Zig line of pens) and Basically Bare (who makes tons of amazing embellies and mixed media albums).

So let's get started on this cute little ornament.

Step One: Paint a chipboard pennant with your green Zig Painty FX pen.

Step Two: Next cut a piece of burlap just large enough to fit over the pennant and select three markers in different shades of green.

Step Three: On a craft sheet, scribble the markers.

Step Four: Spritz the ink with three to four sprays of water.

Step Five: Run the burlap through the ink puddle until covered. Set aside to dry or you can speed up drying by using your heat tool.

Step Six: Adhere the burlap to the pennant and trim the edges.

Step Seven: Cover a corrugated brick with a brown Art & Graphic Twin marker.

Step Eight: Cover an acrylic star with gold ink using a Zig Fabricolor pen.

Step Nine: Wrap the pennant with a piece of red ornament trim.  Lastly, attach the star and tree trunk to the pennant using jump rings and add a tree hook to the top of the star.

Merry Christmas

We're getting closer to the big day, only 11 days left now!

Today I have a super cute card using the new Snow Couple stamp by Queen Kat Designs stamp designer Sandra Caldwell.

For the background, I layered two different patterned papers.  Then, using a Crafter's Workshop template and Modeling Paste, I created several snowflakes.  While the Modeling Paste was still wet, I sprinkled in a bit of glitter.  Everything must have a bit of shimmer!

For the stamped images, I wanted to keep things simple.  I colored around the inside edges with a light blue and then added lots of Stickle accents.

Ornament Trio

Closer and closer we get to Christmas Day!  Today I have a trio of ornaments to share.  And for those of you with children at home, these are the perfect items to make with your kids.  All three of these ornaments use Kuretake (Zig) inks and pens

First up is a quick striped ornament.  I used the Zig Painty FX markers in Green and Red and simply alternated the colors as I drew stripes on the ornament.  Once the stripes were complete, I added a bit of ribbon and a metal trim.  Easy peasy.

The second and third ornaments were fully colored with Kurecolor inks in Dull Blue, Cornflour Blue, and Blue.  I then used a Zig Calligraphy Metallic pen in Silver to draw the stars on the ornament.  To finish this one, I added a ribbon bow and a jingle bell.

And lastly, I used a Zig 2 Way Glue Fine Ball Point Pen to draw a scalloped line of glue across the center of the ornament and to also place random dots around the bottom of the ornament.  I then covered the ornament with glitter and allowed it to dry.  To finish this one, I simply adhered a flower.

What Christmas projects are you working on right now?

Joy

I am officially on the countdown to Christmas (just over two weeks to go)!  So, to get you in the mood, here is a card using the newly released Cthulhu Christamas stamp by Queen Kat Designs stamp designer Coriander Shea.  Isn't he a cutie with his Santa hat and present?

I found the cutest patterned paper for this card.  All of the red in the trees is foil, so it shines when the light hits it.  I simply layered on a bit of ribbon and chipboard embellies for this card.

The stamped imaged was colored in with my Prismacolor pencils and I added Stickle accents on the present and on the hat.
