Guess what? It's time for another installment of Scrap It Girl's Favorite Thing Friday!  And the theme today - Favorite music/artist you listen to while crafting.

My music addiction - country. Love me some Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw.  I could keep going all day :)

Cards, Cards, Cards!

It's been over a year since I created these cards for Scrapbook News and Review Magazine, which means that it's way past time to share them!

I love a shaped card, something different than the standard square or rectangle, so this card was right up my alley.  Lots of layers of patterned paper, chipboard hearts covered with  Art anthology Sorbet, a bit of fringed trim, an Adage Ticket, and a mirrored butterfly...fairly quick and simple but with a stunning effect. 

Next up, I began again with layers of patterned paper, chipboard wings that were heat embossed with WOW Embossing Powder, and a stamped sentiment.  The body of the butterfly was created by simply tightly rolling a strip of patterned paper.

And lastly, a very quick and simple card.  Again, layers of patterned paper, a bit of ribbon, a chipboard heart...simple right?

Favorite Things Friday

It's time for another round of Scrap It Girl's Favorite Things Friday! Can you guess what today's theme is? How about your favorite crafty snack and drink.

I happen to be very clumsy when it comes to open containers, so I don't bring any food into my craft room.  Lesson learned the hard way. But when I get the urge to snack, I constantly reach for a box of Triscuits. Love 'em plain, or even better, with a smear of Laughing Cow cheese.  Yummmmy. And to wash it down, a Vanilla Coke, my latest addiction.

So what do you snack on while scrapping?

Ready for another Valentine's Day project? How about a clean and simple card? Well this is definitely the project for you! So let's show you how simple it is to recreate this card.

Start with punching 12 hearts from old book pages.

Staple the hearts together in set of three.  Then outline the edges of the hearts using a Red Zig Writer.

Next, using the same Red Zig Writer, doodle a border around the edge of the card.

Cover a chipboard heart with embossing ink from a Zig Emboss Writer then heat emboss with red embossing powder.

Paint a slightly smaller canvas heart with a White Painty FX pen.

Once the paint is dry, adhere the canvas heart to the chipboard heart.  Then create an outline on the canvas heart using a Zig Photo Signature pen in Red.

Simple so far, right? Just a couple more quick steps.  Ink a sentiment stamp with a Black Zig Writer and stamp your sentiment on the card.

Ink a chipboard arrow using the same Black Zig Writer.

Now it's just a matter of simply assembling the pieces and adhering them to the card.

Do you know what today is? Umbrella Day, which is in honor of one of the world's most invaluable inventions. So in honor of this day, I have a really fun and colorful card. So let's get started, and I'll show you how it's made.

I started with a 4in x 4in card.  I inked a background stamp with my Zig Brushables pen and stamped the cardstock.  The color of the pen? Splash! Very fitting for this card.

                                      

Next, I stamped my umbrella using a Black Zig Writer, then colored it with my Brushables and Wink of Stella pens. Lastly I simply cut it out.

Using the Yellow Brushables pen, I edged the card with ink.

Now, it's just a matter of putting it all together. I simply added a small transparency and some baker's twine.

Love and Hearts

I was feeling a bit frisky and decided to create a second project for Scrap It Girl's February theme of hearts. This was a super quick tag to create, perfect for that last minute gift addition.  

I don't have step by step pictures, but I promise you this is an easily recreated project.

1. Using a spray in, cover the entire tag in yellow ink.

2. Using pink and teal inks, flick small droplets of ink randomly on the tag.

3. Add the circle background ink using a small circle stencil and a pink ink pad.

4. Stamp the love sentiment randomly on the background using black ink.

5. Punch 18 hearts.

6. Staple the hearts together in bunches of three using a mini stapler. Ink the edges of the hearts with pink ink.

7. Stamp the love sentiment randomly on the background using black ink.

8. Randomly adhere the hearts to the tag

9. Add a bit of fibers to the top of the tag.

It's that simple.  This tag literally took me 20 minutes to make.

My Heart

I have my first Design Team project for Scrap It Girl completed and ready to go. The theme for this month is hearts. And I have to say, I absolutely love the way it turned out! So let's get started, and I'll show you how I put this heart together.

I started with my heart, white acrylic paint, and a foam brush.

I removed the metal portion of the heart, and them painted it with a thin layer of white paint.  I still wanted to see the texture of the wood through the paint. Once the paint was dry, I re-attached the metal portion.

Next, I used a homemade spray ink to add some color.  The spray is a mix of Distress Ink reinker and Perfect Pearls.  It is rare that I make a project that doesn't have some sort of glitter or bling on it.  I simply sprayed the ink, let it start to run, then hit it my heat tool to dry it quickly.  Just keep repeating this process until you like the results.

Next I simply added a bit of May Arts ribbon trim.

Let's set aside the heart now to work on another part of this project.  I found these mini hearts on clearance recently and couldn't pass them up.  I cut two hearts from an old dictionary and adhered them inside the hearts.

I also adhered letters to the book paper.  Once the adhesive is dry for both the paper and letters, I filled both hearts with a clear two-part resin.  It looks cloudy now, but once dry, the resin will be crystal clear. Set these two hearts aside to dry, which will take approximately 24 hours.

While we're waiting on the resin to dry, we'll go back to the larger heart and add in all sorts of embellishments.  I started with the transparency, added in a bunch of Petaloo flowers, a few Prima crystals, a couple of Maya Road heart pins, and a Petaloo butterfly.

Once the resin hearts are dry, simply adhere them to the center of the larger heart, and you're done.

It's a beautiful way to show how much you care for that special someone.  I could also easily see this used for a baby shower or even as decoration in a baby girl's room.
